Empires of the Undergrowth – Exploding Ants adds two new powerful insect species to the game, one for the termites and one for the ants and these creatures have a special ability called autothysis, where they explode to damage enemies. You can use them in Freeplay Mode, Custom Games, or even bring them into campaign levels with Remix mode in Story Mode, they become part of your colony’s defense, giving you a strong way to fight off intruders who might otherwise be too powerful.
The C. explodens ants come from Southeast Asia and have three new unit types. Their regular soldiers can explode to hurt and slow down enemies, while major soldiers have tough armor and can protect nearby allies and you can upgrade them to cause bigger explosions, create chain reactions, or leave behind damaging liquid. The N. taracua termites introduce a new soldier that can stun enemies or escape danger, while their workers develop explosive abilities over time. The longer they live the stronger their explosion becomes creating a toxic effect that lingers. Upgrades help them explode faster cause more damage or extend the confusion they create.
Two new levels bring these explosive creatures into the game’s world and return to The Harvest to wipe out fire ants or battle through the rainforests of the Front Line, facing nights of endless combat. As ants and termites fight among the grass, their explosions send a clear message—these warriors are ready to give everything to protect their colony.
